Ludum Dare
The Ludum Dare accelerated game programming time is almost here. I have participated once before with a team and we made a nice game.
I thought I would not have time for this with all the schoolwork, but I feel that I would feel sad if I did not participate :I
I plan to just make the tiniest possible game :3
Easter Egg Game Jam ends
So in the end I did not get that much done. But I am happy we had the jam and I got to know my classmates better.
The first day went okay, but then I got a bit sick. I also spent a lot of time just playing around in the Hammer editor, but it was fun.
Here are the download links for my game. There is only an introduction chapter and a bit of the first one.
Windows version
Linux version
Maybe I will continue this project later.
I got a bit derailed today and started playing dollhouse for real. Been doing this staircase thingie for about two hours now…
Building the main character’s apartment. I feel like building a digital doll house :3
Hammer editor in the works. My city is a lot like a movie set. Only the front sides are done properly. Next I am going to build the main characters room inside one of the houses.
The Game Jam continues, but I was feeling a bit sick. I just hanged around until eight p.m. and then finished my main character using Gimp.
The other projects are getting along. They are making 40x40 shoot’em up enemy sprite sheets using Blender…
Yeehaa, intro chapter done in time! Most time went using Hammer and learning new things again. But everything worked as planned and I now have a solid workflow for the next three days.
I hope to do at least three chapters.
Enjoy the screenshot :D
Game Jam starts.
Five and half hours have gone already, the house has 5 people making games, one playing games and one sleeping after a long party last night.
I changed my plans a bit. I won’t be making each step in turn, but instead make a chapter at a time. That time I will be going through all the phases many times and will get a better estimation of how fast I can work.
I have now written down some notes, a simple progression without choices and the script for the introduction chapter. Next up creating the backgrounds with Hammer and editing them in GIMP.
I wrote the script using Celtx. It was really handy, because it changed the type of text and indentation automatically :D
Here is the first sketch of the main character Roksa.

Eastern Egg Game Jam
My eastern looks strangely devoid of activity, so I will be co-hosting a Game Jam with my roommate. From this weeks friday to monday, we will be making a game at our place.
I plan to do a visual novel and integrate it into Script Frenzy and my new Hammer editor skillz.
My plan is as follows.
Friday : writing the script using Celtx.
The story will happen in the near future, after a quick and bold alien invasion, that has made Earth a municipality in the great galactic union. Cities are in a bad shape, but school will be starting anyway. The player will meet resistance members and alien transfer students and learn how things are going in the galaxy.
At the end of the day I should have the first, unedited version of the script and a list of necessary character and background images.
Saturday: Drawing the characters and creating locations in Hammer.
It’s hard to evaluate how long this will take, but I’ll make the script use as few characters and different locations as possible.
Before sunday I should have enough assets to create the events in the script.
Sunday: Combining the script and images into a Ren’Py script file.
I’ll be revising the script as I go and making tweaks if necessary.
Monday: Playtesting, correcting typos and tweaking around.
Last day is my reserve day if something takes longer than expected. And on the other hand, if there is time left I will be trying to make some music and sounds.

Eastern Egg Game Jam - you never know what comes out.
